Sciatica and the Sciatic Nerve

Sciatica has to do with pain related to the sciatic nerve.  This large nerve goes from the lumbar spine (lower back) down the thigh and leg.  It is about the diameter of your “pinky” finger, making it the largest nerve outside of the brain and spinal cord.  Lower back disorders often affect branches of this nerve, causing pain sensations down the leg.

This is a condition we see very commonly in our office, and we are usually able to relieve or eliminate this problem using chiropractic adjusting techniques and therapeutic exercises.
